MDV Mechanical Stage Cementing Collar
The MDV Stage Cementing Collar is a two stage mechanical tool used for effective cementing of upper casing sections after cementing the lower section. It provides a controlled method to open and close port holes for cement displacement. The tool ensures positive containment of cement, and all internal parts are drillable and locked from rotating during drilling.
Key Features:
- Mechanical system for cementing upper sections after the lower section
- Fieldproven for use with trip bombs and pressure settings
- Locks sleeves from rotation during drillout
- Seals remain stationary, minimizing damage risk
- Uses minimal aluminum and rubber during drillout
- Can be used with Float shoes and Float collars for optimal cementing results
- Suitable for sour gas service.
- Material grades: up to 135,000 psi minimum yield strength
- Suitable for sour gas service
- Common steel grades: J55, K55, L80, P110 (other grades available upon request)
- API & premium connections available
- No welds used in the tool
- Seals ensure internal and external pressure integrity
- Pressure relief prevents fluid trapping during operation
- Reduced tool length minimizes bending stress.
Advantages:
- Reliable containment of cement during displacement
- Simplifies drillout with no baffle required
- Pressurerelief mechanism prevents fluid compression
- Stationary seals reduce wear and tear during operation
- Shortened tool length reduces the impact of bending stresses.
Applications:
- Ideal for twostage cementing operations, particularly in wells requiring mechanical control for opening and closing port holes. Suitable for sour gas environments and can be used in conjunction with Float shoes, Float collars, sealing plugs, and freefall opening devices.
